The Eagles landed in Baltimore, Maryland, on Tuesday, April 5, 2005. Their Farewell 1 Tour fell short of a total sellout at the 1st Mariner Arena. A smattering of withheld tickets had been released at the box office with very few last-minute walk-ups seeking tickets.
Don Henley, Glen Frey, Timothy B. Schmidt, and Joe Walsh now constitute The Eagles. Walsh was the only bird willing to ruffle any feathers on stage. His quirky remarks, choice guitar strokes, and superior material garnered more audience applause then his fellow bandmates.
The quartet were supported by a group of talented musicians with drummer Scott Crago, keyboardist Will Hollis, guitarist Steuart Smith, keyboardist Michael Thompson.
Their Baltimore apearance featured a collection of Eagles favorites as well as a fair number of solo songs from their individual careers. Slavishly faithful to the original studio recordings, the Eagles have sinced stopped flirting with taking any chances on being rough around the edges.
The audience were up on their feet as the band launched their set with "The Long Run". Henley sang front and center, supported by Walsh's impeccable bottleneck lead guitar riffs. Frey, on acoustic guitar, followed with "New Kid In Town" aided by soaring harmonies.
The Eagles in performance are highlighted by their wonderful harmonizing. Together, the band has far greater earning potential than as individual artists on tour alone. Although tickets were rather pricey, Eagles fans demonstrated their satisfaction by thunderous applause.
