Hampton came alive for only one more night on Monday, August 9, 2004, as Phish and their phanatic phans encamped upon this phamous Virginian Coliseum. The band was conducting a final Summer tour leg in support of their swansong studio album, Undermind.

Phish commenced an extended band jam version of "Chalkdust Torture" to open their final appearance at the circular venue. The party atmosphere was highlighted by audience members dancing in their personal zones, balloons and beach balls bouncing around the floor section, and spotlights flickering throughout the arena.

The Phish Community was hanging out and enjoying themselves for the moment at hand. With Phish on stage, the house vibe was moving and grooving to the band's musical magic. Self-absorbed road warriors who would follow the group from gig to gig were rejoicing at celebrating a pharewell congregation at Hampton.

Having never seen Phish on stage before, I had to bid online for Hampton tickets since I lost the pair I had secured the day of sale online. Simply put, Phish were phenomenal. I am so glad I rented a car and drove down for this gig. After threatening to see the band on tour for many moons, it was a magical evening well worth both the distance and expense to experience Phish live.

Hampton setlist: Chalkdust Torture * Bathtub Gin > Runaway Jim * Walls Of The Cave * Loving Cup * intermission * All Of These Dreams * Limb By Limb * Lifeboy * Crowd Control * Seven Below > Stash > NICU * Bug * Contact > Little Drummer Boy * Character Zero * Encore: David Bowie
